Quality Control Associate

Amyris is seeking a detail oriented and highly collaborative QC Associate to support Amyris global manufacturing. In this QC opportunity, you’ll work alongside scientists, engineers, and analysts to ensure tasks are completed with quality and integrity, and within the aggressive timelines assigned to you. Impeccable attention to detail, organizational skills and record keeping is required. Additionally, you are responsible for the operation, maintenance, testing samples on QC analytical equipment, including GC, HPLC, IC, DSC, melting point, titration apparatus, and ovens.
Sample logistics including receipt, labeling, inventory, submission and shipment to customers, CMOs, CTOs, and other Amyris-affiliated sites
Prepare SOPs, COAs, protocols, and reports
Routine sample and data analysis utilizing established SOPs (chromatography, titration, micro plating, etc.) for stability, release or investigations
Maintenance and troubleshooting of QC analytical equipment, including GC, HPLC, DSC, melting point, titration apparatus, and ovens
Execute experiments for method validations, comparability studies, CMO method transfers and investigations.
Interface with other functional groups outside of QC
Participate in and may lead periodic inventory updates, 5S and organization of QC lab space, lab clean-up, and safety walk throughs
Impeccable attention to detail, organizational skills and record keeping is required.
Where applicable, trending and oversight of results generated at 3rd party labs or CMOs
Required Qualifications:
B.S. degree in chemistry or related discipline plus minimum 3+ year experience utilizing analytical chemistry techniques
Working knowledge of chromatography and data analysis, especially with GC, HPLC and titration
Knowledge of analytical software, e.g., Excel; Chemstation, Chromeleon or Empower is required
Experience using Microsoft Excel
Follow and execute on established SOPs
Instrument troubleshooting is a plus
Sample and data handling skills are mandatory
Strong organization, communication, time-management and multi-tasking skills are mandatory
Comfortable working independently in a fast paced and highly expert environment
Energetic, highly self-motivated and able to work efficiently and productively in a start-up company environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in biotechnology or related field of research preferred
Experience in statistical data analysis and analytical software is a plus
