We believe high-throughput lab automation will enable the implementation of enzymatic DNA synthesis at scale. As an electrical engineer, you will be part of a determined, collaborative team of curious and creative problem-solvers. You will have the opportunity to design and develop custom boards, automation firmware and communication for a DNA synthesizer. We are looking for a versatile generalist, who enjoys working on a variety of electric engineering projects.

Design, implement, and manage custom electronics for automation hardware, including board design
Implement systems that use microcontrollers with digital input/output logic
Managing firmware of custom drivers and controllers for off-the-shelf instrumentation
Maintain master documentation, revision histories, and part lists for custom electronics
Leading vendor sourcing and management for all electronic needs

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or equivalent
3-5 years experience in electrical engineering with a focus on hardware integration
Experience with microcontrollers, PLC programming, and off-the-shelf linear stage controllers
Familiarity with sensors such as piezos, optical sensors, limit switches, encoders is a plus
Simple PCB design and layout; experience with Altium and Cadence
Familiarity with serial communication protocols (SPI, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, USB)
Proficiency in C/C++ (preferred), Python okay
Experience writing and maintaining firmware documentation and testing firmware releases
Ability to communicate and collaborate closely with a small interdisciplinary team
