Lab Assistant, Operations

To reach our technical goals, we’re growing rapidly in head count and square footage, and need more capable hands to help us stay organized during this next phase of growth. As a Lab Assistant, you will work closely with Lab Managers and peers, to execute on daily support and organizational tasks that are essential to our technical teams working in the lab.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with operations, facilities, and technical teams on operational change to support better ways to work
Working closely with Scientists and Research Assistants to make buffers, defrost, clean and organize cold storage, maintain equipment and support experimental work as needed
Monitoring lab supply and consumables inventory, utilizing and maintaining inventory systems, creating best practices
Responsible for all laboratory glassware, including routine cleaning, autoclaving, maintenance and use of dishwasher and ultra-pure water systems
Owning waste management to ensure that items are recycled or disposed of quickly and safely, supporting an uncluttered and efficient workplace
Maintaining chemical inventory and material safety data sheet collection to align with hazardous materials safety initiative
Supporting shipping and receiving of all lab goods, including lifting or moving packages, unpacking contents, and delivery to appropriate storage or use locations
Experience

BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology or High School diploma, equivalent work experience and an eagerness to learn
Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
Great analytical skills with an eagerness to proactively problem solve
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Openness to learn new skills, support various teams, and get hands on to solve problems and progress projects
