Scientist / Senior Scientist, Nucleotide Chemistry

New approaches to solving old problems require new ideas, and our approach to synthesizing DNA with enzyme-nucleotide conjugates offers a unique opportunity for the nucleotide chemist. This role will explore unknown territories of nucleotide design and synthesis, working closely with biochemists and protein engineers as part of an interdisciplinary team assembled to bring an innovative, high impact technology to the world.

If you get energized by designing, building and testing modified nucleotides that will change how the world accesses synthetic DNA, we would love to meet you!

Responsibilities

Propose new designs for modified nucleotides to improve Ansa’s expanding portfolio of products and services
Synthesize, purify, and characterize modified nucleotides
Give and receive scientific and strategic feedback based on results within and across departments
Maintain a strong familiarity with state of the art research and techniques emerging in the field
Collaborating in a team environment: At Ansa, communication between teams is critical–our technology is built on enzymes, chemistry, and automation. Additionally, we believe that honesty and openness are an instrumental part of the scientific endeavor.
Experience

PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or equivalent
5+ years experience with organic chemistry and nucleic acid chemistry
Strong organic chemistry background
Extensive hands-on experience with nucleoside/nucleotide synthesis
Purification of nucleotides from small to large scale (reverse phase and ion exchange) is a plus
