Senior Scientist, Analytical Chemistry

Our platform requires analytics spanning a wide range of analytes, including small molecules, nucleotides and oligonucleotides, peptides and proteins, and as we continue to push the upward limits of extraordinary DNA synthesis quality, a demand for extraordinary analytics emerges. This role will lead the charge on developing Ansa’s analytical capabilities using state of the art techniques and instrumentation. As an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, this role will enable better characterization of the knowns, illuminate the unknowns, and help ensure our platform operates with the highest level of consistency and predictability possible.

Lead the development and execution of powerful analytical tools to characterize and quantify extremely low abundance impurities in our DNA synthesis starting materials and products
Lead the development and execution of robust QC pipelines
Guide instrumentation needs, purchasing, installation, and maintenance
Give and receive scientific and strategic feedback based on results within and across departments
Maintain a strong familiarity with state of the art research and techniques emerging in the field

PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent
5+ years experience with analytical chemistry and nucleic acid chemistry
Broad range of analytical experience with direct exposure to modern methods and instrumentation
Expert knowledge of mass spectrometry and chromatography
Extensive hands-on experience with quantitative analysis of small molecules, nucleic acids, and proteins
Ability to lead the purchasing, installation, and maintenance of analytical instrumentation
Experience with DNA damage assay development
Experience with development and maintenance of QC pipelines
Extremely high attention to detail
Experience with with organic synthesis is a plus
Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Highly organized with strong record keeping
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
