The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Process Development Scientist, are to: 


Perform small scale downstream chromatography and filtration processes for generation of representative material and data in support of process development and characterization activities, with minimum or no supervision;
Maintain and monitor equipment;
Propose modifications to procedures, processes or equipment to deliver continuous improvements and process robustness within MSAT Purification Lab;
Generate, manage, evaluate, and maintain critical data and records of small-scale process operations in accordance with Bayer standard procedures and regulatory requirements;
Author technical reports, data analysis summaries, and SOP’s (Standard Operational Procedures) as needed;
Present and discuss scientific findings within internal meetings;
Discuss data, draw preliminary conclusions, and design next experiments in conjunction with colleagues, senior scientists, and managers;
Work with process SME’s, operations, engineering, and maintenance functions to support projects, deviation investigations and troubleshooting activities;
Support new technology and raw material evaluation, media preparation, small scale tech transfers and deviation investigations;
Work with minimal supervision after training and ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed.

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Biochemical Engineering or other applicable life sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related area with at least two years of directly related industry experience;
Be comfortable with routine, hands on lab operations;
Practical experience with small- to mid-scale chromatography systems and tangential flow and normal flow filtration for all typical unit operations used in biomanufacturing;
Execute studies independently with minimum supervision;
Excellent troubleshooting skills;
Excellent record keeping abilities to adequately record, analyze, and document process development data;
Show initiative in keeping abreast of literature in field of interest. 

Preferred Qualifications:


Familiarity with downstream/purification process systems such as AKTA Pure/Avant liquid chromatography.
