Job Summary:

Bionano is a high growth life science company whose mission is to improve global wellness. In this role we are seeking a proven leader with demonstrated experience leading projects for the development of new products from concept through successful commercial launch. This manager will work collaboratively with engineering, R&D, validation, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, service and sales functions to define and prioritize project objectives, critical success factors and deliverables. This full-time position is located in our San Diego headquarters and will report directly to the Vice President, Program Management Office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to lead partnered projects that are complex in nature, leveraging individual experience and developing strong working relationships to achieve objectives.
  • Work collaboratively to lead cross-functional projects through Bionano’s Design & Development Process (DDP), from concept through successful commercial launch.
  • Serve as project expert on Bionano processes including the DDP and ensure assigned projects conform with the process and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Define, manage, and document project objectives and plans including project charter, plan, contract, resource estimates.
  • Responsible for tracking project activities to ensure timely completion of milestones, identifying and managing project and product risks, and reporting project risks and status to leadership.
  • Manage design history file for assigned projects including confirming deliverables conform with design control procedures and good documentation practices.
  • Work with teams to prepare presentations for reviews that clearly communicate objectives and decisions needed.
  • May lead or support sustaining and process improvement projects.
  •  Capture and apply lessons learned to improve Bionano processes.

  • None

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and techniques through experience or formal training (e.g., PMP certification).
  • Experience leading projects under ISO 13485 and design control procedures.
  • Experience leading project efforts to achieve NMPA IVD approval.
  •  Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS degree in Science or Engineering required.
  • MS, MBA or equivalent degree preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent experience.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in a combination of development, operations, and project management roles including leading cross-functional projects under design control.
  • Experience leading projects that have resulted in commercial launch of in vitro diagnostic products preferred.
  • Fluency in Mandarin highly preferred.
