The Andersen laboratory is pioneering cell-based intervention for neurodegenerative disease and is looking for a Research Associate (level I). The RAI will perform immunology-based laboratory work for an exciting ongoing project in which Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell and synthetic biology technology designed for cancer is being repurposed for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) intervention. 


  • Make and maintain murine and human CD4+ helper and regulatory T-cell cultures for the laboratory.
  • Transfect DNA constructs into T-cells by several means.
  • Adopt cell transfer of polyclonal and/or engineered regulatory T cells into mice.
  • Design antibody panels for Flow Cytometry, perform Flow Cytometry, immunocytochemistry, ELISA, WB, and PCRs.
  • Make intellectual contributions to experimental designs and therapeutic interventions.


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in the culture of primary T-cells and the assessment of their activation is required; experience with regulatory T-cells is especially desirable
  • Proficiency in nucleofection, electroporation, lipofection, and or viral transfection of T-cells is desirable
  • Experience in DNA construct design and cloning techniques is a plus
  • Experience in mammalian cell production of antibodies will be positively valued
