Director of Human Resources

We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources who will play a key role developing and driving a broad array of initiatives around talent management and people to support our ongoing growth and expansion needs in 2022 and beyond. This position will focus on engagement, staff development, and performance management; talent acquisition; communications and organizational culture; employee relations; compliance; and compensation and benefits support as needed. This position will also serve as the lead HR Business Partner to provide HR guidance, coaching, and support for our managers and employees.

Responsibilities include:

Partner with the VP of HR and Caribou leadership on business initiatives to support the organizations objectives, issues, needs, and key success factors
Identify and address human resources challenges and opportunities
Support organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, and skills assessment and development
Provide coaching in career development, career laddering, leadership, and management practices
Partner with external Talent Acquisition team to create and execute short- and long-term recruitment strategies and ensure alignment with company strategy
Establish relationships with leaders and hiring managers to manage recruiting initiatives, understand trends, provide competitive intelligence, and ensure headcount alignment
Create an effective employer branding strategy and employee value proposition that is aligned with Caribou’s vision and core values to attract and hire exceptional and diverse talent
Evaluate current hiring processes and introduce best practices to streamline and enhance the overall candidate experience
Collaborate with the VP of HR and Caribou leadership in developing and driving strategies to engage employees and maintain an environment consistent with the Company’s culture and values
Facilitate the dialogue, skills, and structures needed to strengthen the herd and to navigate relationship or organizational issues that emerge from time to time
Design and manage employee engagement and retention programs, with the goal of creating a positive work environment that stresses teamwork and collaboration as well as employee empowerment and recognition
Design communications strategies that keep employees informed and engaged
Work with Caribou leadership to align the mission, goals, values, and cultural standards that drive the growth and development of the herd and its teams
Evaluate current HR practices and help design, develop, and implement progressive practices and programs such as talent acquisition, on-boarding, compensation, benefits, performance management, communication, and employee and team development to meet the needs of a dynamic and growing team
Help drive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts

Bachelor’s degree required with at least 12 years of progressively responsible HR experience
Experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry highly preferred
Proven recruiting experience in a rapidly growing environment implementing a wide range of staffing programs
Detailed knowledge of performance management and coaching, employee relations and engagement, change management, and organizational design
Recognized as a key resource for employees and managers who is approachable and can effectively facilitate coaching conversations
Strong knowledge and understanding of HR legislation/employment law, principles, policies, and procedures
Ability to work at strategic, operational, and tactical levels
Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, judgment, influencing, and decision-making skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence through listening, writing, and presenting
Ability to work well cross-functionally and influence across the organization at all levels
Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines
Successful experience analyzing and maximizing operational efficiency and productivity
Demonstrated time management expertise and ability to balance multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
Experience with the implementation and evaluation of change management and/or process improvement projects
Excellent facilitation and oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentation or training to all levels
