Scientist/Sr. Scientist, Technology Development

As a result of exciting developments both with Caribou’s internal pipeline programs and with the addition of a significant external partnership, we have multiple early-stage projects focused on the preclinical discovery and development of CAR-T cell therapy candidates.
We are seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist to join our Technology Development group. Working in a collaborative environment, you will work to advance and develop novel technologies to enhance the cytotoxicity, proliferation, and persistence of Caribou’s cell therapy products. This is an opportunity for a talented scientist to drive creative discovery and Caribou’s next-generation cell therapy programs.

Responsibilities include:

Working with a matrixed team to develop and advance preclinical allogeneic CAR-T cell programs targeting liquid and/or solid tumors
Designing, coordinating, executing, and analyzing in vitro and in vivo experiments
Thinking creatively, proposing, and implementing innovative cell engineering approaches to expand Caribou’s preclinical pipeline and intellectual property
Communicating results clearly and concisely internally and externally
Keeping accurate records of experiments and results
Mentoring and supporting team members

PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, or a closely related field
Minimum 3 years of relevant postdoctoral experience (academic or industry)
Hands-on proficiency in Genome editing, primary cell isolation mammalian cell culture, and developing and performing cell based assays (such as cell activation, proliferation, cytotoxicity and phenotype characterization)
Proficiency in a broad range of molecular genetics and cell biology techniques
Experience in planning and executing in vitro functional assays
Proven track record of problem solving and the ability to adapt and integrate new technologies into existing projects
Highly organized with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Self-motivated with a strong collaborative mindset
Ability to develop and mentor a team of researchers
Comfort in a fast-paced environment and ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

Prior experience with cell therapies or other biologics
Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms
Experience in multi-parameter flow cytometry and data analysis
Familiarity with immune cell signaling pathways governing immune response, proliferation, differentiation, and metabolism
Experience designing and performing genetic engineering on cultured mammalian cells
Work in pharmaceutical or biotechnology company focused on immuno-oncology
Understanding of regulatory guidelines for cell therapies
First author publications in related discipline
