Senior Research Associate, Genomics

We are seeking an independent, goal-oriented Senior Research Associate to join our Genomics group. In this role, you will focus on execution and continued optimization of an off-target detection assay to support ongoing projects. The Genomics group works with researchers across the organization to create new molecular assays and carry out established pipelines. The ideal candidate will interact closely with Scientists and other RAs to understand their research, create and execute plans to help answer their questions, and report results. Responsibilities include:

Owning an impactful workflow from molecular assay set-up, library prep, and downstream NGS data analysis
Running and maintaining Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) systems to meet priorities and deadlines
Preparing sequencing libraries on a high-throughput automated platform
Coordinating with researchers across the organization to plan and execute experiments and develop new assays
Compiling and analyzing data to support and contribute to technical reports
Managing and ordering supplies and maintain equipment to meet company quality standards

Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Genetics or Molecular Biology and 5 – 8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s with equivalent experience in industry, academic laboratory, or core facility
Expertise in molecular biology techniques, especially those directly related to NGS (e.g., DNA extractions, PCR, bead- and column-based purifications)
Strong communication skills, self-motivation and proven ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
Excellent organizational, prioritization and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to execute experiments independently with little guidance
Nice-to-have (but not required):

Experience working with or developing methods for laboratory automation systems
High-throughput and/or automation experience
Experience with analysis of NGS data and a strong understanding of quality metrics
Experience generating data visualizations using software such as Prism, JMP, and R
M.Sc. or equivalent in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Genetics or Molecular Biology
