Job Summary
 The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the VP of Finance in accounting and reporting functions for Excellos.  Responsibilities include month-end close processes, financial, regulatory, audit, and tax compliances.   

Responsibilities
 ·       Perform general accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collection, accruals, prepaids, month-end procedures.  

·       Utilize Bill.com for processing vendor invoices, W9 maintenance, and 1099 annual filings.

·       Register State(s) for sales taxes filings as needed (monthly/quarterly/annually).  

·       Maintain fixed assets, CIPs, depreciation/amortization schedules, and property tax filing.

·       Handle corporate credit card entries and reconciliation.

·       Work with Procurement to reconcile monthly inventory/material accounts to ERP, including physical counts.

·       Reconcile balance sheet accounts, checking/saving, and investigate any discrepancies. 

·       Issue monthly billings and revenue recognition in compliance with ASC606, including contract review, timing of billing, and explanation write-up as needed.  

·       Prepare monthly balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow statements.  

·       Maintain proper recordkeeping, supporting schedules, and SOP documentation.

·       Support functional units and assist with implementation of new processes/solutions.

·       Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with US GAAP/GAAS guidelines.

·       Assist with tracking budget expenses, actual vs budget, variance analysis.

·       Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Working Environment
 

·       Normal office environment.

Physical Requirements
 Must be able to work on a computer 4 – 8 hours a day.
·       Must be able to communicate clearly.

Equipment Used
 Standard office equipment including computer, faxes, phones, and printers.
Qualifications
 Education:

o   Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:

o   1+ years’ experience in accounting.

o   Previous experience in research, cell therapy, or biotech preferred.

o   Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Bill.com, Concur, Salesforce preferred.

 

Skills:

o   Exceptional analytical and Excel skills, including pivot tables, Vlook-ups, etc.

o   Strong accounting knowledge and an understanding of US GAAP.

o   Strong consolidation and financial reporting systems experience.

o   Proficient in active communication and solid interpersonal skills.

o   Strong organizational skills, project/task management experience and cross-functional coordination skills.

o   Ability to organize information for multiple, concurrent projects.

o   Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally.
