POSITION TITLE: Research Programmer III
POSITION SUMMARY: The hiring laboratory is a highly multidisciplinary environment, which develops the popular molecular docking suite AutoDock, and is involved in building software infrastructure for molecular modeling, and in using the developed software in numerous drug discovery projects. We have a strong emphasis on data analysis and management for large molecular virtual screenings, as well as integration with other tools, to support our large user community. This position will focus on developing CLI and graphical user interfaces to explore, visualize, analyze, and share structural biology and chemoinformatics data, to improve the user-friendliness of AutoDock software.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. A degree in a biological or chemical science may be accepted if accompanied with programming education, training, and/or experience.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in software application development and research programming. Other work experience (including lab/bench work) may be accepted in conjunction with development and programming experience as determined by the hiring lab.
Experience with software development in Python
Experience working with OOP and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
PREFERRED SKILLSET:
Familiarity with medicinal chemistry research and structure-based drug discovery
Bioinformatics or computational biology experience
Experience collaborating within an interdisciplinary team.
LOCATION: La Jolla, California with the possibility of Remote Employment within United States
COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $71,000 to $89,750 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
COMPENSATION:
The expected hiring range for this position is $71,000 to $88,750, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
