The Logistics and Inventory Specialist’s primary responsibility is to assist the Head of Logistics in creating and growing managed inventory programs.  Duties will include improving the current shipping and receiving structure and expanding our asset management program.  They will partner with the Supply Chain team and other stakeholders to manage suppliers and support the procurement of goods and services for Scripps.


Supports the organization in all aspects of supply chain, including an emphasis on material planning, PO maintenance, shipment tracking, final-mile support, and supplier management.
Works closely with and supports Shipping and Receiving activities, develops and maintains Shipping and Receiving KPIs to identify trends opportunities for improvement
Reviews FedEx, UPS, World Courier and other small package transportation data to identify trends and opportunities for savings or efficiencies.
Works with the Head of Logistics and Inventory with the creation and maintenance of a managed inventory (storehouse) program
Works closely with suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality, control inventories and ensure timely flow of material.
Supports and grows an Asset Lifecycle Management program with other stakeholders including but not limited to Facilities and IT.
Supports physical inventory count and tracking.
Addresses significant logistics issues where solutions require critical thinking and problem solving.
Work will mainly be performed in an inside office or warehouse environment, but fieldwork can be a combination of inside and outside depending on the project.

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Finance or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience with ERP systems, Workday and Jaggaer SciQuest preferred.
Demonstrated experience with logistics and/or inventory systems.
Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, ).
Decision-making/problem-solving skills to address moderate to complex
Experience in implementing new technologies and planning/multi-tasking
Demonstrates excellent analytical skills and attention to
Works independently on complex problems requiring analysis or data
Ability to work effectively with users at various technical and organizational levels from diverse cultural backgrounds, languages and nationalities.
Experience developing trend reports (year-over-year) and ability to identify potential risks and
IATA, DOT, APICS (CSCP) or Six Sigma education or certification is strongly preferred.

May include stationary position for an extended period of time, traverse campus/facility as needed, operate machinery such as computer, phone, copy machine; exposure to cold or hot temperatures.  With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to lift and handle equipment or materials up to 20 pounds; as well as perform repetitive motions with arms, wrists and hands.
