Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This position requires attendance during SOC hours; employee must be present until 5pm. Position requires significant communication with the Assistant Controller, including but not limited to including Assistant Controller on correspondence with external parties and important internal issues.

  1. Negotiate agreements with suppliers.
  2. Manage supplier relationships – strategically plan/manage all interactions with suppliers daily, uncover/realize new value and reduce risk, and ensure compliance to process/directives.
  3. Identify/recommend/develop potential new suppliers.
  4. Plan annual purchasing requirements, budget review, and contract renewals.
  5. Review product specifications, maintaining a working technical knowledge of goods and services requested via a technical document or technical instruction (bill of materials, drawings or technical specs given by engineers).
  6. Monitor supplier production schedules and inventory levels and solicit bid proposals and issue purchase requisitions based on availability/pricing/etc. to meet manufacturing needs and maintain minimum inventory levels.
  7. Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine most cost effective/reasonable pricing.
  8. Review supplier change notifications and assess impact on supply pipeline & critical path material needs.
  9. Review and interrogate supplier tooling costings for modification or replacement tools.
  10. Lead new product development sourcing and manage long and short-term projects with cross-functional teams.
  11. Ensure communication of purchasing related technical, marketing, and production information to appropriate parties.
  12. Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
  13. Communicate with suppliers’ appropriate departments regarding supply chain issues.
  14. Work with internal team to prepare, kit and issue any production inventory needed based on manufacturing schedule/needs and customer demand.
  15. Interface with engineers to identify and coordinate disposition of obsolete, non-conforming, and excess materials in inventory stores.
  16. Reconcile & count inventory on a quarterly basis.
  17. Identify savings opportunities and goals and remove dependency on single source suppliers.
  18. Recognize that any change to current product/program/service will have purchasing/financial implications and take appropriate actions.
  19. Provide relationship management support to internal stakeholders: guide and assist with purchasing process, questions and needs for designated areas.
  20. Support quality management system and initiatives including but not limited to document control and quarterly internal/external audits for purchasing and inventory.
  21. Responsible for inventory asset storage & organization.
  22. Assist as a back-up for purchase order entry into accounting systems and government property tracking.
  23. Support project team-meetings and information flow, working cross-functionally with other departments and internal customers ( R&D, Engineering, Quality etc.).
  24. Contribute to the continuous improvement & development of the procurement, inventory management & supply chain function by constantly challenging processes and through idea generation on a regular basis.
  25. Ensure compliance to quality system requirements for areas of responsibility.
  26. Participate in systems upgrades, enhancements and implementations.
  27. Complete any additional tasks as assigned by supervisor. All duties and responsibilities are performed according to SOC policies and procedures.
  28. Mandatory attendance at All-Hands SOC safety, security and HR Meetings.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Accpac; Unanet; and projects database.

 

Education/Experience:

Bachleor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering. Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
