As part of our community-serving programming, University Lab Partners is recruiting for Educational Program Manager/Instructor (Biotechnology). The Educational Program Manager/Instructor (Biotechnology) is responsible for University Lab Partners’ educational programming that provides high school, college, and professional students virtual and in-person courses focused on biotechnology. The ideal candidate must have a passion for teaching and the life sciences industry.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Develop/monitor/revise curriculum as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; execute program evaluations.
  • Demonstrate a thorough and current knowledge of the in-demand biotechnology skills and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships to grow workforce development program.
  • Collaborate and oversee contractors/instructors to ensure course effectiveness and integrity.
  • Create a rigorous yet supportive learning environment with high expectations for student achievement and success.
  • Manage equipment, supplies, and materials in the ULP Learning Laboratory.
  • Assess student performance and competencies.
  • Maintain accurate course budget, inventory, student attendance, performance, and other records and reporting as required.
  • Collaborate with Business Development team for funding opportunities to support ULP’s educational programing and outreach.
  • Understand current teaching strategies, project‐based learning, and learning modalities
  • Sensitivity to socioeconomic and diversity inside the workplace, classroom, and within the communities served by the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational and Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Molecular Biology/Biology/Biological Sciences/Microbiology/Virology or related field or California Community College Credential in the discipline area.
  • 5+ years industry or academic research experience in the biotechnology / medtech sector that encompasses solving biomedical problems, understanding the fundamentals of molecular cell biology, and practices on biotechnology product development.
  • Applicant must possess practical experience with laboratory techniques (pipetting, dilution factors, aseptic techniques), experimental design, microbiology techniques (SDS‐PAGE, ELISA, genomic DNA/RNA isolation, restriction, and ligation), western blotting, PCR, cell culture, transfections, immunofluorescence staining, and/or knowledge of HPLC and flow cytometry is desirable.
