Vir Biotechnology is seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our Immunology team to tackle challenges spanning discovery research, pre-clinical development, and support to clinical trial programs. The successful candidate will work closely with internal resources and external consultants to provide critical operations support within the Human PBMC Biorepository to support both Clinical and Research Immunology programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Perform in-house processing of whole blood biospecimens into PBMC and plasma/serum, according to established Vir SOPs.
  • Detailed documentation of sample handling and processing metrics to ensure compliance with regulations surrounding clinical trial samples.
  • Prepare and coordinate delivery of clinical kits for whole blood collection at external research collaborator clinical sites.
  • Maintain a high level of scientific integrity and laboratory safety.
  • Clean laboratory areas and biosafety cabinets, maintaining production equipment and facilities in clean working condition.
  • Assist in ordering supplies, making reagents and maintaining the laboratory to conduct necessary activities.
  • Maintain project timelines and actively participate in team meetings.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to continuously improve and learn.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field with 1+ year experience in a biotech, medical laboratory, or academic setting handling human blood samples.
  • Clinical or biological laboratory experience in the processing and/or analysis of biological samples, particularly human blood samples.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Exceptional planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Professional interpersonal skills, excellent oral/written communication skills.
